Alright, I was out of town this weekend for a bit of R & R.

Anyway so I am updating Nigel late tonight. I will let all of you be the judge but I was pretty pleased with the page. Lucy has been a tough character to draw and I think I am getting the hang of her look.

You tell 'em, Nigel!

I have the same trouble with my Betty Jo character. I still don't have her right.

She looks formidable.* Is this the AMoT's** first encounter with her? Malfelix is laying back his ears, but I bet the crowd doesn't know cat-language...

*(In a darkly cute kind of way.)

Nigel seems scarier and more hostile in this page than in previous pages/ Also, you did a great job illustrating Lucy. I love her eyes.

I suspect there are only a few things he really cares about.

You did great on Lucy. I especially love the hatching and texture in her hair. You really put a lot into it and it shows. Nice.

Thank you one and all. While Nigel tends to be morose most times he does care deeply for Lucy and her well being. Why a vampire feels this way about a human girl will become more apparent as the story moves forward. But yes Nigel turns very scary if there is even a hint that someone might threaten Lucy. And yes pay attention to Malfelix he is not just window dressing.

Originally when I first came up with the idea of Nigel the Nosferatu I was going to do this as more or less as a gag a day strip in the vein of Charles Addams. However, as I began to plot the installments and work on the character profiles I soon realized that the comic was going to have more depth. You will see some shifts in the relationships and mood of the comic. Which is not to say I am moving away from the humor and the puns. They will still be there.

@vwyler, man do I understand, it is easy to draw someone who is odd or perhaps a caricature archetype, but drawing a cute girl or beautiful woman is hard, hard, hard to get right and consistent from panel to panel, and page to page. Even a handsome male is easier to draw as that too is a kind of archetype.

As to are the townspeople aware of Lucy the answer is yes, but that is a complicated bit of the story you will learn about later. In the past Lucy has tagged along but the normal outcome is Nigel goes BOO! and the mob flees. This is the first attempt at court action. Hence Lucy now comes to the fore with her intellect and a sharp double edged sword vocabulary.

Lucy is interesting, a little girl with a woman's face. I'd start a stealth puberty thing happening with her, if ya get my meaning.

Ah Mo you have discovered one of my plot twists. There is a reason I set Lucy's age at 12. And my intention as the story advances is to have Lucy grow up. Which means having to deal with all the issues that teenagers face, plus in Lucy's case there are complications that I will not yet reveal. Toss into that that her guardian is Nigel and you have a recipe that will make dating a challenge. :)

Another issue for Lucy is she is one exceptionally brilliant 12 year old. Which means she is not going to relate well to most of her peers.

Hang on to your hats dear readers there is turbulence ahead.

Oh yes, Nigel is going badass. This says more about the character than a thousand words. I'm eagerly awaiting those plot twists :)
